Exam binding
Beyond selling rare books, we also care for them. Anna Maartje trained as a bookbinder at the Vakopleiding Handboekbinden (VOHB) in Hilversum, a two-year professional programme where she learned both modern and historical binding techniques: from cartonnage and Japanese binding to German, French, and Gothic binding in leather and parchment. She graduated in 2024.
Book restoration in Florence
Following the VOHB diploma, she continued her training in book restoration at a bookbinding atelier in Florence, learning to clean, wash, and restore old papers, and to repair leather and parchment damage on antiquarian books.
Handmade notebooks
Anna Maartje also designs and creates handmade notebooks using techniques and materials from her bookbinding training. Each notebook is sewn and bound by hand, with covers in decorative paper, marbled patterns, bookbinding cloth, leather or parchment.
